The west pier on Saturday morning held the state it has kept since the bird's return on the twentieth. The dabchicks were silent, the fish were not visible, and the eldest of the family was at work in a manner that warranted noting.

A second rehearsal of the midsummer duet carried, in fragments, to the south bank on Friday evening, recorded as it reached the bank and with no claim to have reached the rehearsal itself.

A floating object has been reported at the upper bend by the fishing party of mallards. It is the second such report this season, and the party have asked, with some emphasis, that one feature be noted.

The first regular Wednesday session after the special session deferred all four items before it. The Junior Member was present and did not speak, and the Channel Sprint rematch has slipped, as such things do, from the moon now passed.

The Cultural Subcommittee has posted a provisional running order for the midsummer programme. Four items are confirmed, only the third is named, and the co-honker is printed by her own name for the first time on these pages: Mabel.

Monday produced a quiet noted here without any claim to have caused it. No business of consequence was filed, and the Clerk's own summary is that the day made no difference to anything lodged in it.

Two days after the special session of the twenty-third, the south bank did very little, and did it on purpose. The rehearsals have not begun. The running order is still to come.
